Fully annexed in November 1942, France organized itself under the German yoke according to the degree of oppression and resistance. Whether living in the so-called free zone under the aegis of the Vichy regime, or in the occupied zone under direct German control, the French had to choose: resist, collaborate or remain neutral.
Each major city has its own story. Through the testimonies of residents who lived through this period, resistance fighters and survivors, as well as local historians, this documentary collection describes how millions of French people lived on "German time".
